J. Michael Burman Celebrates 25th Anniversary as a
Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney

West Palm Beach, FL – Attorney J. Michael Burman, founding partner of the West Palm Beach law firm Burman, Critton, Luttier & Coleman, was recently commemorated by The Florida Bar for his 25 years as a Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney. Burman was one of 226 lawyers board certified in civil trial or tax law in 1983; and who has remained certified for 25 years – growing from just two specialty his first year to an impressive 22 today.

Certification provides attorneys with an opportunity to continuously exemplify the highest level of skill, training and ethical conduct as a Florida lawyer. The program sets high standards for both excellence and professionalism and is predicated on experience and integrity. In order to become a Florida Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney and remain certified, an attorney must:

  • Be in ‘Good Standing’ with The Florida Bar
  • Practiced law for at least 5 years (more than 30% of time in a particular practice area)
  • Must have 15 contested civil trial cases (cases before a jury and as lead counsel) in court during 3 years prior to certification
  • Pass a peer review
  • Complete 5 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses within 3 years preceding  application
  • Pass a written exam (knowledge, skill & proficiency in field of law)
  • And, must continue to practice law and attend FLABAR approved CLE’s
